RIGHTSIZING TIPS FOR CONDO DESIGN AND DECOR

Moving into a smaller space can be stressful, but we’ve got some great tips to help transition into a condo in style.
- Cut back the clutter
We all hold onto things of sentimental value, but there comes a time when we need to stop and think about what matters. Consider keeping old artwork from the kids and cherished letters in a photo album or scrapbook to keep them safe, and donate old knick-knacks you’ve been hanging onto.
- Size matters
A lot of older pieces of furniture are simply too big for a smaller home. Take a look at your inventory and see what fits, replace your family-sized sectional for a cozy modern sofa, or even just get rid of the old chairs that nobody uses.
- Lighten up
Modern condos use large windows to brighten the interiors, but you can take it a step further to make your new home feel even more spacious. Consider changing out your old, dark tones and replacing them with lighter choices. That doesn’t mean you need to get rid of every antique, but keep to an overall lighter palette.
- Form and function
Take a tip from the Tiny House trend, and transform everything into storage wherever possible. Ottomans, side tables with drawers, and full-height cabinets can add the storage you need to keep more of your possessions without adding to the clutter.
- Take it outside
Never forget the potential of outdoor living! More and more condos offer private balconies and terraces to give residents a breath of fresh air. So don’t limit your living space to what’s inside, and set up a secondary space outside!
